ABOUT OUR MINISTRYHOW IT BEGAN AND WHAT WE DO
The ministry with girls on the street began in 2007. It was a joined ministry that we had with Extreme Ministry. Since Extreme Ministry had to focus more on their ministry so we took this ministry over from them.
It all started when the team heard rumors that the young girls selling packages of rice seller in a particulair area in Denpasar were actually there to provide sexual services. When we found out this was true, we felt to respond to this as God heart is for the lost.
WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW
Now, we have about 6 staffs that are committed to join the ministry. Previously there were about 40 sellers and now down into 25-30. As we went to the area, beside meeting these woman regularly we also did prayer walk, worship and intercession. As we hear more of God's heart to see these woman recognizing the light of God, some of the woman that become our friend now are having better job and some are finding their life partner. Along Gatsu, even it is a main big road, both sides of the road were dark but now more shops open during night time, which automatically reduce the amount of the seller and if so, the amount who provides sex service is lesser than before.
OUR VISION
The ministry is about making friends and building relationship with the women that sell package rice along Gatsu street. These woman start opening their small selling table around 7 to 8PM - 12 to 3AM. Because it is during night time, most likely this place are targeted by male customer to find a time to relax or fun after their working hours or just regular. Some of the women that does this business also providing sex service with some amount of money. Through this ministry we are trying to give help to these woman through relationship building a word of encouragement or support that help renew their mindset to be willing to take a step forward finding a better job.
HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
In the future, we want to see many of these girls finding their life purpose and start reaching out to their dreams, dare to take a first step towards it, encouraging girls that are off the street to reach out to their friends that are still there. We also wants to have a coffee shop around the area as a platform to minister to the girls, where our staff also can stay there, so it will save our time on the journey meeting with these girls and make the ministry more focused; We are trusting God for His right timing in providing this.
